Sit-A-Thon (fundraiser) and Harvest for Peace Celebration

September 23rd (2018)

Montpelier Shambhala is an all-volunteer led organization, supported 100% by donations and program fees. We provide a community based, welcoming meditation center that is open to all people. Through mindfulness meditation we practice opening our hearts to our community and aspire to create an enlightened society.  The funds raised during this sit-a-thon will be used to support our ability to provide a safe and sacred space for community members to practice meditation (such as rent and utilities, upgrades to our practice space, additional meditation cushions, etc.). Our goal is to raise $10,000!

What is a "sit-a-thon"?  Participants commit to sitting meditation practice a certain number of hours and friends, family and colleagues financially sponsor each hour they do so.  It will be fun, inspiring and very helpful to our presence in the community.  To learn more about how to participate go here:

    • 9:00 am:   Sit-A-Thon begins with periods of sitting and walking meditation
    • 12noon:     Welcome and Community Mingling / set up for lunch
    • 12:15 pm  Festive Harvest of Peace Potluck Lunch -- ALL WELCOME!!!
    • 1:30pm:    Sit-A-Thon with periods of sitting and walking meditation
    • 4:30 pm:   Clean up and depart

Each year at the time of the fall equinox, we celebrate the Harvest of Peace, coming together as a community to mark the changing of the seasons. Please join us this year to celebrate our sense of Shambhala vision, the richness of our local community and relationships, and a taste of Shambhala's culture.
