Monthly Open House

with Alexandra Vlasic

November 6th

Date details +

Join us for our monthly Open House led by Alex Vlasic. Shamatha Meditation instruction will be given, followed by a brief talk, exercise, and discussion. Tea, conversation and light refreshments will follow.

This month's talk and practice experience is entitled:  Cultivating agency beyond habits of control, in meditation and everyday life

How do we discover and own our own power without trying to control everything? What do we do when we realize we have little to no control over most of life’s circumstances? How do we work with that in our lives? Can meditation practice help? What is meditation really anyway? During this Open House discussion, we will take some time to explore the difference between agency and control and feel into how we can simultaneously let go of control while recognizing our own power and agency. We will look into how meditation can be of benefit or harm, and consider how this practice and our relationship with control and agency might impact our daily lives.
